A bid-reading assistant for the bid lead

Every page read, or said to be unread.

Drop in the documents the GC sent. BidScan reads the whole set, fills your capture template, and brings back the questions that need an answer before you commit a number.

Info

The point isn’t to read faster. It’s a number that rests on a complete read.

01

It reads the whole set

The ITB, the price breakdown, the spec set, the addenda. Every document you upload is read, and a page it could not read is named as unread, never passed over.

02

It asks. It doesn’t guess

When the documents don’t answer something, it becomes an open question, ranked by what it would do to your number. Nothing is filled in to look complete.

03

It shows where it read it

Every captured field says where it came from. Search answers with the file and the page.

How it reads

Five steps, one sitting.

The scan does the document work. What only you can know stays yours: relationships, internal context, win strategy.

  1. 1

    Start a scan

Title, client and due date come off the documents. You add only what they can’t say: your read on the bid, and what you’re subcontracting.

  2. 2

    Upload the whole package

Everything the GC sent, plus the addenda. A file that didn’t finish uploading is shown as not part of the scan.

  3. 3

    It reads on its own

The scan runs on the server, not in your browser. Close the tab and come back.

  4. 4

    Answer what you know

What you can’t answer stays open and becomes the RFI. Nothing expires.

  5. 5

    Finalize

The capture template, the analysis, the RFI letter and the PDF exports are written when you finalize.

Did the documents say anything about it?

What it won’t do

  • Not a replacement for your judgment. The number is yours.
  • Not a guess. If the answer isn’t in the documents, it’s an open question, not a value.
  • Not a black box. Every field is tagged with where it came from.
  • Not a sender. The RFI letter is a draft you read and send yourself. BidScan sends nothing.

Demos

A scan you can open, on a public bid.

The demo will be a real scan of a public bid posting that names no private party’s prices. It isn’t here yet.

Questions a bid lead asks first.

What does it read?

PDFs and spreadsheets from the bid package: the invitation, the price breakdown, specs and drawings. Scanned pages are read with OCR where the machine supports it.

What if a page can’t be read?

It tells you which pages had no readable text. That note is always shown, and search lists unreadable documents by name.

Who sees my scans?

Everyone on your company’s account. There is one company per build; people join by invitation.

Does it know how we bid?

It asks eight questions about how your company bids and keeps the answers. Feeding those answers into every scan is being built, with its test.
